It’s a bit loud in here y’all but I’m trying to focus. There were some discussions about the reluctance of podcasters to be in platforms without ad revenue. David is interested in something like sub.club but feels like it’s a tough sell. Similar with Patreon. Difficult to get enough paid subscribers to make up for the difference.

Gonna have to listen to this again when it gets published.

A few points I’ve heard today:

Get people off centralized social media however you can

Focus on getting “normies” onboarded and staying around

Hide the complexities of federation - make it fun and easy.

I truly get the term “normies” but ouch. Also as the fediverse expands with more of them, our current community will create or find their own smaller safer spaces again.

Work on that has already started with the concepts of allow list federation.
