@reiver.bsky.social does robin.live respect existing opt-in/opt-out settings? Because my post at https://infosec.exchange/@thenexusofprivacy/114134881967629586 showed up in a search their for #FediverseHouse even though my "privacy and reach" settings have currently turned off "Include public posts in search results" and "Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms".

@thenexusofprivacy @reiver.bsky.social It should also respect deletion notices. Content that is removed upstream should not remain in the index.

That too.
Here's a screenshot from another verifying that @reiver's robin.live -- as demo'ed yesterday at the #FediverseHouse developer meetup hosted by @socialwebfdn
-- ignores consent.At a session I led at #FediForum last year there was talk about how unfortunate it is that we keep having blowups when developers ignore consent. As I pointed out, fediverse influencers with big platforms could help here by highlighting how many people in the fediverse value consent, and that there are some obvious steps to take to avoid a firestorm -- like, y'know, RESPECTING PEOPLE'S ALREADY-SET PREFERENCES.
But no. https://privacy.thenexus.today/consent-for-fediverse-developers/

@thenexusofprivacy @reiver.bsky.social
Fwiw, my posts or my profile do not seem to show up. I have "Include public posts / profile in search results" and "Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms" turned off from the start of my account (I have never turned them on).
Maybe turning them on just once triggers the search engine, and then the account stays in their logs (or whatever the correct name) and is not switched off? -

It's hard to know what's going on. I had repeated the test from another account which had those turned off from the beginning and it still showed up -- https://infosec.exchange/@thenexusofprivacy/114139054134724413

Oh!
I think I tested correctly. I tried with my profile name and with the word "causation" which I had just used in a reply post.

@Alexandrad1 you probably did test correctly! It's an interesting data point, like I say hard to know just what's going on.

@thenexusofprivacy @reiver @socialwebfdn @jaz @reiver.bsky.social users on the Fediverse aren't anti tools or anti discovery, we just want our choices to be respected. After all, being a space where our choices and privacy are respected in a way that Big Tech doesn't is a big part of the reason why the Fediverse is popular!
